Choosing a Scout Troop...
You’ve had a great time in Cub Scouts. Maybe you have now earned your Arrow of Light, reached your 11th birthday, or are about to finish 5th grade. It’s time to find a Scout Troop to move up to for greater challenges and more exciting adventures!
So how do you choose?
There are several things you want to ask any Scout Troop you may be considering. Some are practical questions such as When do they meet? Where do they meet? How much are dues? How do you fund raise? Others have to do with what kind of adventures they offer. What is your calendar of events? Where do you go? How often to you camp or visit High-Adventure bases? What are your meetings like?
And some have to do with the other scouts you are going to be friends with. Is there a mix of younger and older scouts? How many scouts are in the troop? Will my scout get attention or just be part of a large group? Will my scout get a chance to be a leader?
BSA TROOP 29 brings a proud 90+ year history of Scouting to Barrington, Illinois.
We are an active troop with weekly meetings (at Barrington High School) and monthly trips, campouts or outings, offering our scouts opportunities for leadership and personal growth.
Come see what we are about... Everyone is welcome at Troop 29!
Develop leadership and speaking skills as they lead troop meetings focus on rank advancement, skills, and badges. All while having fun.
Participate in outdoor activities throughout the year such as hiking, orienteering, pioneering, and first aid.
Have fun and learn about watercraft safety during summer activities such as canoe trips and kayaking.
Plan and lead their campouts. Hikes, cooking, and fire bowl activities are just part of the camping program.
